Color Consultation
Expert color selection tailored to Florida light, your HOA palette, and long-term resale value.
What color consultation includes
Choosing an exterior or interior color in South Florida is genuinely harder than it looks. Humidity haze, salt-air atmospherics, screened lanais, and terracotta rooflines all influence how a color performs in real life versus on a chip. Our consultation starts with a conversation about how you use the space, your home’s fixed elements (roof, paver, stonework, landscaping), and your goals — whether that’s maximizing resale appeal, satisfying an HOA requirement, or simply living comfortably with a color for the next decade.
We pull from Sherwin-Williams’ full professional line and apply oversized samples directly to your surfaces. We revisit them in morning light and afternoon light before making a recommendation. For interiors, we consider how natural light enters each room and how adjacent spaces flow together.
Florida-specific considerations
Color choice here carries real consequences. Darker exteriors absorb heat and can shorten paint film life in our climate. Certain pigments fade faster under UV intensity this far south. Salt air near the coast is hard on some finishes. We account for all of this when we recommend colors, and we lean toward Sherwin-Williams formulations that are specifically proven in high-humidity, high-UV conditions.
HOA compliance is a routine part of what we do. Many communities in Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties maintain strict approved-color lists and require board sign-off before exterior work begins. We help you navigate that process — selecting colors within the approved range and presenting samples in the format your HOA expects.
If resale is a factor, we steer toward palettes that photograph well and have broad buyer appeal in this market, without making your home look generic.
Why KB Painting
Our painters and project managers bring 25+ years of combined experience perfecting the craft in South Florida, with experience going back to 1999, and color is something Braiden and Kaylee care about personally. Every job uses Sherwin-Williams premium products — no builder-grade substitutions. Our crew are employees, not subcontractors, which means the same experienced painters who help evaluate your samples are the ones applying the final coat.
All exterior work is backed by our five-year workmanship warranty. We’re BBB A+, Google Guaranteed, and members of the Painting Contractors Association. Color consultation is the first step in a process built to last.

Common questions
Do you help with HOA color approval paperwork?
Yes. We're familiar with the approval processes common to South Florida HOAs and can help you select colors from your community's approved palette, stage samples on your home's exterior, and provide documentation to submit to your board.
How do large paint samples work in Florida's light?
Florida's intense sunlight and reflected glare shift how colors read on a home. We apply large-scale peel-and-stick or painted swatches directly to your exterior walls at different orientations so you can evaluate the color at multiple times of day before committing.
Is the color consultation a separate cost, or is it included with a painting estimate?
Our free written estimate includes a preliminary color conversation. For clients who want a dedicated session — reviewing Sherwin-Williams fan decks, testing multiple swatches, and coordinating trim, doors, and accent colors — we offer a focused consultation; ask us about current pricing when you call.
